About February
21st
There is a
facebook group «WE REMEMBER THEM» that was created in June 2011. In this group
the pictures of Fallen Soldiers are posted on the anniversary date of their
death. Over time, numerous Silver Cross families joined this group.
On February 21st 2012, we
decided to dedicate this special date to Soldiers of Suicide. Since then,
parents of Soldiers of Suicide joined the group and they want to have their son
or daughter’s name published in the commemorative calendar.
It is due to
the support we got after adding them to our annual calendar that we decide to
host a candlelight ceremony on February
21st 2013.
Again the
candlelight ceremony brought a new vision to the taboo against suicide that our
society has adopted for a long time.
The special
date of «February 21st»
will also become an annual event for our organization, bringing about each year
a candle tribute ceremony to honour these Soldiers. This event will help to
increase awareness and understanding towards Soldiers of Suicide (S.O.S.) it
will aim at bringing support to families, friends and brothers in arms, a venue
to assist them in surviving the tragedy. They will also be able to take
advantage of this opportunity to share with others who are waling the same
path.
